I really enjoyed the first Foundation book but as for Foundation and Empire sigh...

In the first book the Foundation is the main character but Asimov tries changing this in the sequel but instead can't seem to decide whether to focus on galactic-level events or protagonists, neither of which is readable or interesting.

It is also made up of two stories, the first tells the story of the empire's last ditch effort to conquer the Foundation, this is achieved through characters talking about the war rather than reading about any combat. The second called the mule is the better half of the book with the mule throwing in a varible not calculated through psychohistory.

Overall disappointing and i really have no interest in finishing the trilogy now.
